PEPTIC ULCER
Ulcer is a chronic open sore in the stomach, wall of intestines or gut caused by too much acid e.g. Hydrochloric acid or pepsin.

CAUSES OF ULCER
Prolonged hunger (staying for a very long time without food).
Eating too much acidic or greasy food.
Alcohol and caffeine
Drug induced injury e.g. Aspirin
Severe illness
Excessive stress (duodenal ulcer)
Heredity
SIGNS AND COMPLAINTS
Burning feeling in the stomach
Black and Sticky stool (sometimes with blood)
Î Vomiting with little fresh blood (in severe cases)
Loss of appetite
Tiredness
PREVENTION/MANAGEMENT
Î Drink a lot of water before and between.
Also, notice the foods which cause more pain and avoid them.
Always sleep with upper body raised up.
Always eat alkaline food (potassium) eg banana.
TREATMENT Number 1
Drink a spoonful of zaituun oil 4 times daily.
Treatment number 2
Pound 5-7 leaves of aloe vera. Add 3 spoonful of hulbah fenugreek powder to it. Soak them in 2 litres of water for about 7 hours, then, drink one cup of the water 4 times daily.
Mix 3 spoonful of each of sahal and hulbah fenugreek powders with half a litre of honey, then take one spoonful 4 times daily.
Mix 3 spoonful of Quriat Powder (brown type) with a cup of honey and take one spoonful of it 3 times daily.
CAUTION
Do not drink milk as a treatment for ulcer, because researches have shown that milk brings momentary relief in ulcer patients, but have "rebound effect" whereby, the acid content in the stomach is increased and makes the pain go worse.
Precaution
Avoid taking tobacco, alcohol or hard drugs.
